Bud Gillies is a well-known and broadly collected Winnipeg artist whose highly acclaimed work has been featured in solo shows and collections across Canada and United States. Bud’s works are one-of-a-kind vessels, tiles, iconic enclosures, oil paintings, and frescoes. In recent work, the female figure features prominently, while the paintings echo early modernism and give a subtle hint of biology in the manner of Joan Miro. He has participated in several shows at the Winnipeg Art Gallery including Contemporary Art in Manitoba, In Praise of Crafts/Louange aux Metiers d’Art, and Clay at the Crossroads: Direction sin Contemporary Studio Ceramics.
