(1924 - 1989) Being born in Arctic Quebec, Lizzie Saggiak remembers crossing Hudson Strait with her family to settle at Igalaalik Camp in the Andrew Gordon Bay area. Lizzie’s husband Saggiak (1897-1980), who was also an artist, moved his family to Cape Dorset after obtaining a permanent job at the nursing station there. Their son Kumakuluk is a carver. Between 1960 and 1967, Lizzie produced five prints for the Dorset annual collections. One of her delicate drawings was featured in the “Strange Scenes: Early Cape Dorset Drawings” exhibit. - Excerpt from Inuit Art Section, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC), 1997.
