Martha Troian is an investigative journalist, writer and jewelry designer. Martha is a member of the Anishinaabe Nation and originally from Obishikokaang (Lac Seul) First Nation in northwestern Ontario, and also has ties to Wabauskang First Nation. Martha harvests wiigwaas (birch bark) as her ancestors did, offering a prayer along with semaa (tobacco) back to the land. Most wiigwaas is collected from northern Ontario and Manitoba. Her collection, known as Pinotinoway (The Coming Wind), includes everything from wiigwaas earrings, bracelets, necklaces, cufflinks, to barrettes made with genuine sterling silver. Offering modern and minimalist jewelry, every piece is unique, with no jewelry ever being a duplicate.
