Sandy Maniapik is an Inuit artist from Pangnirtung, Nunavut.  His unique talents include hand carving sculptures and jewellery from local stone, antler, whale baleen and bone. In 2002, he designed and created a baleen brooch in the shape of a whale that was presented to Queen Elizabeth II during her visit to Iqaluit to commemorate the creation of Nunavut.
