Andrew Qappik: Pangnirtung Memories
Curated by Darlene Coward Wight
Essays by H.G. Jones and Darlene Coward Wight

Andrew Qappik was only 14 when his first prints were published in the 1978 Pangnirtung annual collection in Nunavut. Since then Qappik’s works have been included in every Pangnirtung print collection, and he is well-known for his design of the Nunavut flag and the territory’s coat-of-arms. Qappik’s prints depicts both animals and traditional Inuit culture and reveal a fondness for naturalistic scenes of Arctic life. This publication documents the artist’s first solo exhibition and marks the donation to the Gallery of a complete collection of Qappik’s prints by Dr. H.G. Jones of North Carolina.
