Fragment of Eros figurine
The terracotta figurine is preserved from the waist up and depicts the winged god wearing a sleeveless chiton, a broad belt and crossed straps below the chest like the costume worn by hippodrome charioteers. In his left hand he is holding the Horn of Plenty decorated with garlands and brimming over with grape clusters. It is a unique Eros type embodying elements from the iconography of other figures as well. Egypt, 150 – 200 AD. Terracotta replica on marble base.
