Sewing since his childhood in the 1970’s , Roy Liang likes to return to his roots of vintage textiles and patterns. One of his favourite pastimes was shopping at Winnipeg fabric stores such as Mitchell Fabrics. He enjoys creating vintage inspired looks with a modern appeal and sometimes incorporates his own silk-screened textiles. Roy has taken numerous sewing, tailoring, and printing classes, as well as teaching silk screening classes at Martha Street Studio in Winnipeg.

Roy named his brand Winnipeg North of Fargo in a joking manner, due to how we reference our location to people who don’t know where Winnipeg is. “Everyone knows of Fargo because of the movie!” exclaims Roy. “We are like a bigger Fargo because we tend to stick around and appreciate the value in moving at a slow pace”.
