This mill was designed to have a little “chute” at the bottom, so the freshly ground pepper does not scatter all over when it is used. Until I started to put it all together, I did not realize that the bottom part looked like a rocket – thus the name.
The main body is turned from walnut that came from Ottawa area, and some ash that grew on the other side of my fence. The mechanism is a lighter use ceramic mill, and it suitable for salt as well as pepper. The coarseness of the grind is adjusted with the top nut, which is encased in a walnut button.
