Relief of Dionysos

$26.00

Relief with a representation of Dionysus. The god is depicted with his familiar symbols, the panther and the grapes, repeating the statuary type of Lyceus Apollo created by Praxiteles in the second half of the 4th century BC. This iconographic type of Dionysus was developed in Hellenistic times, when, with the advent of syncretism, certain gods assumed characteristics traditionally belonging to other deities. Egypt, 2nd century AD.
