When the shaman goes into a trance he does so with a drum or chanting
and he elevates himself to a different level of life. When he is in a trance,
often the experience becomes an ecstatic one because he is operating
on a different frequency, and it is almost like a drug. He has an incredible
out of body experience, this is what shamans were trying to achieve, a
well-defined level of ecstasy.
