Tanagra figurine with a chiton
Terracotta female figurine (Tanagraea) with a chiton, a himation wrapped around her body, a sun-hat and a fan in her left hand. The original preserves traces of red, blue and brown coloration. These figurines were first found in the Boeotian town of Tanagra although they probably originated in Athens c. 330 BC. Until the late 3rd century BC they appeared as products of many local workshops in Greece and in the Eastern Mediterranean.
