Head of a terracotta figurine found on the island of Lesbos where the cult of the goddess of love was widespread from the archaic period onward. The figure is dated to the Hellenistic period when the manufacture of terracotta ligurines flourished on the island. Not enough of the figure is preserved to indicate if the figure were draped or naked or to identify the iconographic type.Terracotta replica on marble base.
