Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen founded the settlement of ‘Gjøahavn’ in 1903, making it a tourist destination for fans of arctic history. The local Nattilik Inuit artists are known for their expressive shamanic sculptures carved from whale bone, local stone, as well as finely sewn clothing.
