Focus Three: The Decorative Element

This publication, which celebrates the earthenware ceramics at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, examines the richness of the styles of decoration as well as the approaches to surface decoration during the ceramic exploration of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The decorative element refers to the overall shape of the object itself, the patterns, colours and styles of painting, and it often relates to the object’s use of purpose.
